Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen Review and Swatches

Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen in Smokey Review and Swatches

I reviewed the Lime Crime Bushy Brow Strong Hold Gel here on my blog back in January, and at the same time I bought the gel I also bought the Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen at the same time as they kept selling out so I wasn’t going to let them sell out again once I’d seen my shade in stock.

Out of the two products, it was the Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen I was most looking forward to trying as one of my all time favourite brow products is the Soap and Glory Archery Brow Pen Brow Tint and Pencil. The Archery Pen Brow Tint has a felt tip nib and it’s amazing for drawing brow-like hairs, but it’s really hard to find decent quality brow pens so I was instantly sold when I saw that Lime Crime were launching their own type of brow pen.

Are you as obsessed with the bushy brow look as we are? We designed an innovative pen to unleash these thick, textured arches in a flick.

With its thin-as-a-pin precision brush, our pigmented eyebrow filler and definer makes it easy to draw individual hairs, one superfine stroke at a time. These hair-like lines blend right into your true brow thanks to a range of natural shades that match your hair color.

The result looks so legit, you can’’t tell where your real brow ends and your eyebrow makeup begins!

Define, shape, build, fill in and flick up for feathery fullness. Toss those basic eyebrow pencils and get the ultimate cruelty-free eyebrow pen. Now you can have bushy brows whether you were #blessed with them or not. Tinted eyebrow pen comes in a range of natural hair colors that blend in with your real brow.

What it does: Mimics the texture and fullness of naturally bushy brows with feather-light strokes.

What it won’t do: Give you insta-brows that look fake and harsh.

Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen in Smokey Review and Swatches

The Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen is £20 from Cult Beauty and contains 0.7ml of product. Just like the Bushy Brow Gel, the Pen is available in five different shades; Dirty Blonde, Redhead, Baby Brown, Brownie and Smokey. I chose the shade Smokey in both products which is the darkest shade and it’s such an amazing match as it’s a deep, cool toned brown and Smokey in the gel and pen is exactly the same shade.

I know sometimes shades can differ product to product but Smokey matches perfectly. I really like that Lime Crime have made the Bushy Brow Gel a pale pinky toned lilac, and the Bushy Brow Pen a pale lilac shade as you can easily tell them apart.

The nib on the pen is very fine, and you can draw the most precise tiny strokes but with firmer pressure, you can do thicker and more intense strokes. This pen however is not messing about – it’s the most intense pen I’ve used as it instantly stains so you need to be very careful with it, as it’s very difficult to correct mistakes. Once I washed these swatches away, my skin was stained for hours.

Sometimes after cleansing, depending on how much product I’ve applied, the Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen is still noticeable in my brows so it’d be ideal if you go to the gym or want a waterproof brow product as it doesn’t budge.

There’s something a little strange with the Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen in Smokey, as it comes out as cool dark brown but if you wipe it away with a face wipe or flannel without any cleanser/remover, the brown is removed and it looks blue within the brows. I’ve tried brow pens from L’Oreal and Maybelline and they’ve both left me with green brows from the start, but there’s no issue with the Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen providing I use a decent makeup remover.

The best method of removal has been the Gatineau Floracil and then following with a cleansing balm and toner to get rid of all remnants, but the faffy removal doesn’t put me off as it’s the perfect brow pen and it works amazingly alongside the matching brow gel.

Have you ever tried a brow pen before?!
