Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic

Whenever I buy a new beauty product, I have a storage system where I place new products in a ‘to try’ stash which is divided into two sections with things I need to photograph and then things I have photographed. It probably sounds a bit OTT but when you blog every single day, (sometimes twice) you need to be super organised and I find that this helps me keep on top of what I need to photograph and try. Sometimes I buy or receive a product and curiosity gets the better of me and I try a product before photographing it, which is seen as being a blogger cardinal sin but that exact thing happened with the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic.

I’ve raved about the Superdrug Naturally Radiant range numerous times, but the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic is a product I bought and tried before photographing it and I then couldn’t photograph it because the packaging leaked and ruined the label so I had to wait until I ran out so I could repurchase.

Although that’s a positive too, because I completely finished my last bottle so hopefully it speaks volumes on how much I enjoyed it, to want to repurchase. The Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic is £5.99 for 100ml, and I think 100ml is quite stingy for a glycolic toner as it’s a travel sized like the Pixi Tonic 100ml toners. Although Superdrug permanently have their own brand skincare ranges on offer, so if you can get it at half price, it’s even better.

“Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic is formulated with a unique energising complex and infused with Kiwi Fruit and Mulberry extracts to help revive skin’s radiance and even out skin tone.

Highly concentrated in Glycolic Acid, a powerful Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), the refreshing tonic also refines pores, retexturises the skin’s surface and smoothes fine lines, providing a brighter, healthier and more youthful complexion.”

Infused with:

Glycolic Acid is an effective Alpha Hydroxy Acid which retexturises the skin’s surface, helping to fade pigment irregularities and smooth fine lines and wrinkles for a brighter, more youthful complexion.

Kiwi Fruit extract is a rich source of Vitamin C, which is renowned for its remarkable ability to help brighten and even out skin tone, while also providing antioxidant protection against free radicals.

Mulberry Fruit extract has naturally strong brightening properties, which can help to reduce discolouration and even out skin tone.

Directions: Apply with a cotton pad to face, neck and décolleté after cleansing. Can be used daily in the morning and evening.

The toner doesn’t smell great in all honesty which is the one of the two minor downside for me, as to me it smells like chewing gum and I just wish it smelt nicer as the scent lingers for some time after use. The other ‘issue’ is possibly because of how little product there is in the bottle, but it isn’t very “wet” which might sound so weird, but you have to shake quite a few drops of the toner onto your cotton pad.

To get around this I’ve been applying a little micellar water to the pad beforehand, or wetting it under a tap before pouring the toner on as I feel like it makes it go further. In an ideal world I wouldn’t have to do extra steps as they’d give you at least 150ml to 200ml like every other glycolic based toner as, but it’s a nice enough product that I don’t mind doing that for providing I can get it at £3 instead of £6 otherwise I really wouldn’t bother.

It’s nice and gentle on the skin, and offers a light exfoliation without ever leaving my skin feeling uncomfortable. It isn’t as effective as the Pixi Glow Tonic, and I’ve seen people say it’s a Glow Tonic dupe, but it just isn’t.

The Glow Tonic leaves the skin feeling hydrated, and refined whereas this Superdrug tonic is considerably more mild in comparison. I do think it’s hard to find decent glycolic based toners under £10 within the drugstore that laden with alcohol so this is a toner I’d recommend but it’s not my holy grail either.
