The Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder has been on my wishlist for such a long time but I could never justify buying it as I have many different translucent powders within my ‘powder’ drawer. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this powder so when I spotted that Debenhams had a mini size of the powder, and they had 15% off Kat Von D I finally took the plunge. The full size contains 19 grams of powder and is £23, whilst this mini size contains 5.4 grams and is £11. I can’t remember ever finishing a loose powder before the expiry date on the packaging so the mini size was just perfect for me and 5.4 grams of loose powder is still a lot of powder, and I managed to get it for £9 thanks to the discount.
The Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder mini size even comes with a miniature size of the Kat Von D powder puff which is so cute, and it’s actually the perfect size for applying powder under your eyes or around your nose for a more precise application. I have super dry skin so I’m always very sparing with powder application or I can end up looking awful and even drier which is definitely not what I want. I never apply powder all over my face, instead I prefer to concentrate it to the middle of my face, along my T-zone and under eyes, basically wherever my concealer goes.
“This silky, non-drying powder features Micro-Blurring Technology™ to softly diffuse pores for a refined, selfie-ready finish. Formulated to be undetectable on all skin tones, ‘Lock-It’ setting powder has a complexion-boosting blend of mattifying particles to smooth imperfections and lock-in your look for a velvety matte finish. For flawless all-over setting, apply with the ‘Lock-It’ setting powder brush.
ARTISTRY TIP – Use the ‘Lock-It’ Precision Powder Brush to apply a generous amount of setting powder on top of a shade of Lock-It Concealer Crème two tones lighter than your skin. Wait a couple of minutes, then dust it off with the brush for a soft-matte under-eye that stays perfect throughout the day.“
I love that the sifter of the Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder is shaped like a star, and the puff fits nicely within the lid to prevent the sifter from getting messy. The powder is extremely finely milled and reminds me of the Vichy Dermablend Powder in how fine it is. It truly feels like silk on the skin. It does a great job at banishing shine without making my skin look dry, cakey or super matte. I also love using it on a fluffy blending brush to set my eyeshadow primer before applying any eyeshadow.
Usually after applying a loose powder, I go in and use an hydrating setting spray like the Too Faced Hangover Spray to try and add a little more hydration to the skin but I don’t need to do that at all when using the KVD powder. It also works wonders on my smile lines, and prevents my makeup from creasing or separating and I think it’s even better than the Laura Mercier Transulcent Loose Setting Powder which is saying something as that was my favourite until now.
Have you ever tried the Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder before? What is your favourite setting powder?
