The Pixi Glow Tonic has reached cult status and considering it used to be a product you’d have to buy in their Covent Garden store or ring up and order over the phone, it’s insane how many stockists now stock the Pixi skincare range. Everybody loves the Pixi Glow Tonic but I feel like the only person that didn’t love it. Don’t get me wrong, I use it but it’s not my favourite exfoliative toner and I prefer to use it on my body as it’s so heavily scented. Even though the Glow Tonic didn’t wow me, I have loved other products within the Glow range and the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel Exfoliating Cleanser is one of the newest additions to the range.
“This hydrating cleansing gel removes impurities without stripping the skin of essential moisture. With Moisclean™ and a unique blend containing glycolic acid, horse chestnut extract, aloe and ginseng, it helps refine and brighten complexion leaving skin energized and smooth.“
The Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel is a clear, viscous gel which does slip around once you’ve squeezed it from the tube so I tend to squeeze it into a cupped hand otherwise I end up losing product down the sink. You could apply it directly to a face cloth, but the directions recommend applying it directly to the skin and massage for 30 seconds before rinsing, and it can be used both morning and night.
It has a similar scent to the Glow Tonic which is to be expected considering they’re both from the same range so I knew it was a scent I wasn’t going to love but as it’s a cleanser you rinse away, the scent doesn’t linger on the skin unlike the Glow Tonic which does.
This gel is described as being hydrating but I find it to be a little too stripping for my dry skin. I imagine it would be amazing for oily skin as it does a fantastic job at purifying the skin, but I do tend to favour more cream and balm formula cleansers. I didn’t find that this gel lathered very well, even with warm water and a face cloth.
It’s the kind of cleanser I like to use in a shower as it’s so quick and easy to use but it doesn’t remove makeup so I have to use a micellar water beforehand but I like that it offers gentle exfoliation as well as clarifying the skin. If you have super dry skin like myself, you might prefer their Double Cleanse as it’s a little more nourishing and hydrating than the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel.
You can purchase the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel 135ml for £18 on the Pixi UK website.
