The Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner is a product I wanted to try for such a long time after seeing many US beauty YouTubers rave about it in their videos. I’ve tried so many different makeup brush cleaners over the years, but the Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner really appealed to me so I was delighted when Just My Look started stocking their products and I immediately placed an order.
The Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner is available in multiple different sizes and you can purchase the liquid version which you pour into a bowl or a spray version that you spray directly onto your brushes.
I wasn’t sure which one was the best so I opted for the Makeup Brush Cleaner & Cleansing Tin Starter Kit which contained a mini size of the brush cleaner, and a little tin to use it with. The starter set I bought only had a 60ml sample inside, however they now do a starter set with a 240ml size which is much better value but I bought mine at the start of the year.
“Cinema Secrets Professional Makeup Brush Cleaner is an expertly-formulated brush cleansing agent designed to melt away excess makeup pigments and dead skin cells from brushes in an instant.
Dip your brushes into this quick-drying solution to eradicate blemish-inducing germs and any leftover product. By doing this, you’ll prolong the life of your (often expensive!) makeup brushes. Has a delicate vanilla fragrance and kills 99.99% of bacteria. Suitable for use with natural & synthetic-hair brushes. Completely cruelty-free.“
Directions of use:
- For optimum results, use in conjunction with Cinema Secrets’ Cleansing Tin.
- Pour a small about of the product into a container.
- Dip the tips of your makeup brushes into the solution & remove immediately to avoid over-submergence.
- For bigger brushes, only dip the base & hold for 5 seconds.
- The bristles will absorb enough of the liquid to dissolve all unwanted particles.
- Wipe brushes with a paper towel or cloth & leave to dry.
The Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner is so quick and easy to use. You simply pour a cap-full into the small metal tin, and then dip your makeup brush into the solution and swirl it round, and then dab the brush onto some kitchen roll or a face cloth to remove any residual makeup.
I particularly like that it has a rinse-free formula so it’s something you can use during your makeup application if you don’t have lots of brushes, and want to use the same brush for different shades or formulas.
I think the spray version may be quicker and easier to use during makeup application, but for me this starter set has been perfect. You can use multiple brushes in on cap-full of the solution, and it has a subtle vanilla scent which I really like.
Many brush cleaners have a very strong alcohol scent which isn’t something you want to be putting near your eyes/skin, but this cleaner smells really nice. Once you’ve wiped any residual makeup off onto a tissue or cloth, it dries almost instantly which is amazing.
Many ‘instant’ brush cleaners leave the bristles soaking wet and you have to wait around for them to dry which kinda negates the whole point of an instant brush cleaner.
This has definitely become my absolute favourite brush cleaner, and I like that it cleans 99.9% of bacteria so I know my brushes are not just visually clean, but they’re bacteria clean too. I have already ordered a larger size of this liquid version and the spray version and I cannot recommend the Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner enough.
You can purchase the whole Cinema Secrets range from Just My Look.
