I was kindly sent the Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint out of the blue from Feelunique a few months ago. It arrived without any press releases or information so I wasn’t entirely sure what it was, and how it should be used especially as I’d never heard of it before. In fact I’ve never heard of the Lumene brand before either. The Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint is available in four different shades and is £32.90 to buy from Feelunique‘s website.
So who are Lumene?
Lumene are described as being a wild-crafted, sustainable Nordic beauty brand which is inspired by Nordic women. They take their inspiration from the Nordic approach to wellbeing and beauty: a region where a unique blend of resilience, mindfulness and harmony with nature is deeply routed in everyday life. Despite the harsh climates of the northern longitudes, Nordic women are fresh-faced, radiance and healthy-looking.
They handpick Nordic botanicals, allowing nature to regenerate and remain in balance. Thoughtfully selected not only for their ability to nourish the skin but also for their local origin and sustainable source.
All of their skincare formulas are 100% vegan and cruelty free, and they work everyday in making their beauty products even more natural with a great efficacy, safety and sensoriality – and some of their formulas are as high as 100% naturally-derived ingredients.
“Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint is a moisture-packed skincare and makeup hybrid that hydrates and perfects the skin for a youthful and perfected second-skin look.
The fresh, gel-like texture instantly blends into the complexion to reveal unified, radiant skin. Pure Arctic Spring Water and Nordic Algae deeply hydrate the skin for up to 24 hours*, leaving it feeling fresh and supple.“
The Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint is packaged within a frosted glass jar, with a white plastic lid that has a pretty iridescent coloured effect shift which makes a nice touch.
Under the lid, the product is protected by a peel off piece of foil that helps to keep the product safely within the jar. The four shades on offer are; Universal Light, Universal Medium, Universal Dark and Universal Deep, and I have the shade Universal Medium.
As you can see from the swatches, the Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint in Universal Medium is massively too dark for me and I don’t think this photo shows the deepness of the shade very well due to my studio lights.
It’s very dark and very warm toned which sadly means I’ve not been able to wear it straight from the jar. After looking at swatches online, I believe Universal Light would also be too deep for me but if you have a deeper skintone than mine, the shade might be a better match for you.
With a name like ‘skin tint’, I expected the consistency to be more akin to a moisturiser but it feels like a foundation as you rub it into the skin. I find a dampened beauty sponge to be the best method of application, but I have to use some form of lightening drops to make it considerably lighter to make it match my skintone so I feel like the formula may have changed a little by how much lightening drops I’ve had to use.
It doesn’t offer very much coverage, but that’s to be expected from a skint tint formula. It feels lightweight on the skin, and gives a healthy appearance to the skin with a very subtle glow.
If you have flawless skin, I imagine this would look beautiful on the skin but I have blemishes, acne scarring, dry patches and dark under eyes all of which need more coverage than this can offer me. I really like the concept behind the brand, and the product but for me it doesn’t wow me enough to warrant the £33 price tag and I feel like there should be more shades to be more inclusive.
