MUA x Glow Collection Review and Swatches
Back in May, MUA launched their Summer collection which is unlike any of their past collections. The MUA x Glow Collection consists of fifteen different products priced between £1 and £5, and I have five of the fifteen products to show you today. You can purchase the collection from the MUA website directly, or from Superdrug stores.
MUA x Glow Light Lustre Liquid Highlighter – Wonder £5
The MUA Light Lustre Liquid Highlighter isn’t a new product entirely as there are already three other shades within MUA’s main range in Opulence, Marvel and Sublime. The three Light Lustre Liquid Highlighter shades within the MUA x Glow collection are Wonder, Marvel and Spectacle. There’s a Marvel shade within both ranges of the Light Lustres which is a little confusing but I have the Wonder shade.
I already own Opulence but I’ve not featured it on my blog yet, but I definitely will very soon as it’s the lightest shade within the collection. The packaging is so sleek for such a budget brand with a frosted glass bottle, a gold metal lid and a glass pipette dispenser. Wonder is a deep bronze shade which sadly doesn’t work for my pale skintone, but it would look gorgeous on tanned skin for the face and body.
The formula is really nice though and doesn’t feel greasy like the Revolution Liquid Highlighters do, so if you can find a shade that works for your skintone, I think they’re a great liquid highlighter.
MUA x Glow Bronzed Perfection Bronzer – Golden Dunes £4
Every summer makeup collection needs a bronzer and this MUA bronzer is a beauty. Packaged within a vibrant orange plastic compact with a clear lid, containing a generous 15 grams of product which is great value for only £4. The bronzer is quite unique for a drugstore brand as the pan is divided into six different shades of bronze. The pan is very large so if you use a small brush, you could possibly use individual shades but the sections are too small to fit a bronzer brush into them so you could always use them as eyeshadow shades.
I included swatches of all six shades individually as well as a blended swatch of all sections as I felt like it would be more helpful to show you. I particularly like that the bronzer has warm, cool and neutral bronze shades all in one compact. The divided pan does give me subtle Clarins vibes with their beautiful summer bronzers.
Blended together, Golden Dunes is too deep for my skintone even with a light hand but with a smaller brush I can concentrate on the lighter sections. I think this bronzer would be better suited for those with lighter skintones as opposed to fair, but I’d love to see MUA introduce a lighter version as I really like the concept of the different coloured sections.
MUA x Glow Roll On Eye Shimmers £3
When I saw that MUA launched some Roll On Eye Shimmers, I kinda cringed as I used roll on shimmer eyeshadows when I was a teenager and they were awful. However I had to try them as the shades looked so pretty and I really wanted to know if the design had improved. There are three shades to choose from; Moroccan Spice, Tropical Azure and Desert Shimmer which I’ve swatched in order.
I included four or five swipes of the rollerball in the top swatch in each photo, and the second swatch is one single swipe of the rollerball so you could see how sheer or pigmented they were. The packaging isn’t brilliant as the Desert Shimmer shade leaks the powder really badly which I hope you can see in the photo above, and as it’s loose shimmer it’s not ideal as it gets everywhere!
Shade wise, Moroccan Spice is a vibrant cranberry with golden shimmer, Tropical Azure is a turquoise shimmer and Desert Shimmer is a warm bronze with golden shimmer. The Moroccan Spice shade stained my eyelids when I wore it alone applied over an eyeshadow primer so I’d recommend using a base shadow first to avoid possible stainage, but I’ve not had any staining from the other shades.
I do think they’re pretty but I’d rather buy one of the MUA palettes in all honesty and get lots more shades with better packaging, and these roll on shimmers are very sheer so they’re my least favourite product within the MUA x Glow Collection.
