Pixi pHenomenal Gel

When I received the Pixi pHenomenal Gel inside a Pixi PR package, I honestly had no idea what a PH gel would be used for and where it would slot into my skincare routine. I’ve had the pleasure of trying lots of the Pixi Skintreats range, and I’ve been so impressed with the quality of the products. The Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream is one of my favourite skincare products full stop, so I had high hopes for the Pixi pHenomenal Gel.

This pH-neutralizing moisture gel treatment soothes, balances and stabilizes skin’s pH level. By managing your skin’s delicate balance, you will be able to control shine and dryness while maintaining a healthy and luminous complexion. Horse chestnut hydrates and smoothes, while citric acid balances and brightens.

I’ve never really thought about the PH level of my skin but as my skin’s so dry I figured the gel might help with the dryness. The gel is a milky white colour which is quick to absorb but it does leave a slightly texture on the skin which I don’t love. It doesn’t offer as much hydration as I thought it could but it does make my dry patches feel a little more comfortable.

During the winter, central heating plays havoc on my skin and it can feel very tight so I think this gel would work really well to make my skin feel a little more comfortable. Apart from making my skin feel a little more comfortable, I can’t say I’ve noticed anything else so I’m not sure it’s worth £24 to me as I’d perhaps prefer to use an hydrating serum.

I can’t recall ever seeing a PH gel before so if you do have PH skin concerns, I imagine you’ll be pleased to find a product like this but for me it felt like an extra unnecessary step within my skincare routine, and one that left my skin feeling really sticky. Normally I love the Pixi skincare range, but this one just didn’t wow me this time.

You can purchase the Pixi pHenomenal Gel for £24 from the Pixi website.
