I don’t know what it is about makeup bags, but I just love adding new ones to my collection. They’re so collectable and so handy, especially when travelling for keeping your makeup together whilst hopefully keeping the products protected too. I’d see the The Flat Lay Co Open Flat Makeup Bags on social media but I’d never tried one myself, so I was really happy when the brand asked me if I’d like to try one of the The Flat Lay Co Mini Open Flat Makeup Bags.
The Flat Lay Co used to offer just one single size of their open flat makeup bags, and they’re 50cm so they’re pretty sizeable. I don’t have the need for a big 50cm size bag so their brand new mini size is ideal for me, and it’s available on their website now for £17.99 and their 50cm size are £19.99 each. The two different sizes of the bag are available in ten different prints, so there’s a design for everyone.

“The Essentials size is our gorgeous mini, designed for keeping a few pieces of makeup with you in your handbag for afternoon top-ups! Interior zipper pocket, plus four elastic brush holders. Exterior two large pockets fastened by velcro.”
I chose the Leopard design as I love leopard print, but they offer plain solid colours if you prefer a non-patterned makeup. I like that on the The Flat Lay Co website they show each print/design in use, in both the mini and original sizes so you can see what each one looks like. The leopard design is really cute, and has a matte finish. From the photos on their website I did wonder whether the bag had an almost satin finish, but the matte finish would be easier to clean so I’m glad it’s not shiny but it is completely machine washable which is fab.
I put products in the bag which would create nearly a whole makeup look, and I wanted to show you what the bag looked like with this many products. I’m missing things like mascara, brushes and brow products but there’s quite a few products inside the bag, and it closes so nicely thanks to the drawstring. It’s so well made, and I like that there are different compartments that allow you to keep products separate should you want to.
Once you’ve pulled the drawstring taught, the products are really secured and it even fit my six pan ColourPop Take Me Home Eyeshadow Palette which I didn’t expect considering it’s the ‘mini’ size. The The Flat Lay Co Mini size even has two outer pockets which you could use to keep jewellery or hair clips separate from the rest of your makeup in the main section. I think these makeup bags would make for fab gifts this Christmas, especially if you have someone that’s difficult to buy for as it’s a practical present with a twist.
You can purchase the The Flat Lay Co Mini open flat makeup bags on their website.
