Collection are quite understated as a brand with only a few new launches a year, compared to the frequent releases from the likes of Revolution, MUA and Essence. In time for Winter, Collection have launched three new product ranges and I have a collection of shades from all three. There’s a collection of Collection Lip Gello shades, Bounce Back Eyeshadows and a collection of Stay The Night Lip Tattoo shades too.
Collection Lip Gello £2.99
“Collection’s first jelly lip product, the innovative bouncy formula glides on with intense colour pigments for a long lasting finish. Expect the high colour concentration of a traditional lipstick with the comfort of a smooth jelly.“
The Collection Lip Gello are small, circular pots containing a jelly-like tinted balm for the lips. I didn’t really know what to expect before trying them, but they really do feel like jelly in the pots. When you circle your finger within the pot, the whole Lip Gello wobbles and feels so weird at first. There are six shades to choose from, but they’re pretty much all varying shades of red. There’s one slightly more nude shade; Bounce, but I feel like the shade range could include more nudes.
The Lip Gello formula is quite sheer, but a little buildable for most shades except Bounce and Spring as they’re both sheer regardless of how much you apply. They feel a little sticky which I expected for a jelly formula, and I feel like they do a great job at creating a Popsicle effect on the lips. They do have a tendency to move around once on the lips so they’re the kind of lip colour you need to check frequently. Quiver and Wobble add a little stain to the lips, but you could use a clear lip liner to outline your lips to ensure the Collection Lip Gello stays in place.
Collection Bounce Back Eyeshadow £3
“A long-lasting eyeshadow with bounce back technology. The spongy eyeshadow is irresistible to touch, glides and blends like a dream. The bouncy texture means you can ditch the makeup brushes and get creative with your fingertips. Shades that subtly shimmer and sparkle after one swipe.“
The Collection Bounce Back Eyeshadows are available in six shades, and I have five of the six available. The shadows have a creamy, bouncy consistency which reminds me of the ColourPop Super Shock Shadows, except these shades are less sparkly. All five shades have a smooth texture with nice pigmentation, although Hello Angel is a pale gold and very minimal when on the eyes, whilst the other shades are much more intense.
They don’t blend the best with a brush, so they’re the kind of shadow you’d want to use with your fingertip to get a fully even layer on the lids which is the same for the ColourPop shadows too. My favourite shade is Warm Heart as it’s a pretty, warm rust shade which is perfect for this time of year. If you like colourful shades, Teal Teaser and Midnight Thrill are a must, as they’re vivid and bright but look so pretty too. They do all need to be applied over a primer, but they’re lovely for £3 each.
Collection Stay The Night Lip Tattoo £4.99
“Ultra intense metallic glaze for stay put lip goals.”
If you like a super impactful, vivid and bright lip colour, you need to try the Collection Lip Tattoos. I can’t stress enough how vivid these are, and their staining power. This last swatch picture shows the stains left behind, which lasted for three full days after swatching them even using endless makeup removers, cleansers, oils and solutions to remove them. Whatever you do, don’t swatch these lip colours on your lunch break as you’ll be stuck with the swatches.
They are insanely pigmented and bold, and there eight shades to choose from. I have four of them, but most of the shades are fun and colourful. I expected Desire Me to be particularly staining but No Regrets and Booty Call were the biggest offenders in the longlasting staining. Desire Me almost looks like the night sky on the lips, with lots of different coloured shimmer particles. I’m being completely honest, I wouldn’t wear any of these lip shades but if you do prefer a colourful, vibrant lip they really are pretty and contain multidimensional shimmer.
You can find the Collection Lip Gello, Lip Tattoo and Bounce Back Eyeshadows at Boots and Superdrug.
