Essence Golden Crown and Warm Bronze Melted Chrome Eyeshadows

The Essence Melted Chrome Eyeshadows are one of my favourite discoveries for 2019, but I had been hoping Essence would extend the shade range and they finally did. Essence have a crazy quick turnaround for their products, and so often I’ll fall in love with a product, try to repurchase said product only to discover it’s been discontinued. Luckily for me, the Melted Chrome Eyeshadows haven’t been discontinued, and they’ve added a few new shades. I decided to buy Essence Golden Crown and Warm Bronze as I’ve been dying for Essence to introduce some more neutral shades to their Melted Chrome range, and I couldn’t wait to try them.

The Essence Melted Chrome Eyeshadows are £3 each and they contain 2 grams of product. The original lineup of shades when the shadows launched included six shades; Zinc About You, Ironic, Steel The Look, Lead Me, Platinum Nights and Copper Fire. Looking at the Essence website, it looks like they’ve actually discontinued some of the original shades as there are now only six shades in total – including the new shades. The shade range is now; 04 Steel the Look, 01 Zinc About You, 06 Copper Me, 07 Warm Bronze, 08 Golden Crown and 02 Ironic.

The metallic look is full on trend! The melted chrome eyeshadows dip the eyelids into a warm gold or a shimmering brown – for a stunning, glamorous look that is easy to wear. Thanks to the bouncy texture and the intense colour payoff of the eyeshadows, eye make-up is really fun.

The Melted Chrome Eyeshadows have a powder formula however the texture of the shadow within the pan both looks and feels like a cream. They all have a slightly strange rippled effect, which I believe is what helps the shadows to be so smooth and silky on application. I love Ironic and Zinc About You so much as they impart a wet look, foiled effect to the lids so I couldn’t wait to try the Essence Golden Crown and Warm Bronze Melted Chrome Eyeshadows.

In the pan the two newer shades look identical to the two older shades, but the formula is actually different which is really disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, Warm Bronze and Golden Crown are both pretty eyeshadows, but they just don’t have the melted chrome effect that the original shades have. I included swatches of all four shades so you could see the difference between the two sets of shadows.

Golden Crown is a warm toned gold shimmer with light gold sparkle, and Warm Bronze isn’t that metallic never mind chrome like. Warm Bronze has a warm brown satin base with silver sparkle. I really am gutted the new shades aren’t comparable to the amazing original shades, as Ironic and Zinc About You really were incredible and I had really high hopes for the new shades.
