If you have someone that’s difficult to buy for this Christmas, gadgets are always a great idea especially if it’s something they could use everyday. I feel like dash cams are the kind of gadget you’d perhaps not want to purchase for yourself as it’s not the most exciting of gadgets, but they’re so useful and something you’d really appreciate. Did you know that there are over 3 million Dash Cams already on the roads in the UK? I certainly didn’t, and dash cams are one of the fastest growing areas of consumer technology. My other half has been wanting a dash cam for some time now, and I assumed they’d all be very expensive so I was really surprised that the Nextbase 122 Dash Cam Series 2 was under £50, making it the perfect entry level dash cam.
“The principle motivation for owning a Dash Cam is the peace of mind that comes with knowing your trip is being recorded, and the ability to prove liability in the event of an incident. Nextbase remains true to this concept with Series 2 but our team of engineers has also worked tirelessly to squeeze a myriad of useful technology into the products, to deliver an easier driving experience and ensure that the new models remain relevant for the foreseeable future. Despite all this extra hard work, we are proud to unveil these products without having to change their price points.”
Nextbase are the world’s leading Dash Cam manufacturer and they recently unveiled a new range of products, whose technologies will redefine the sector. Nextbase’s ‘Series 2’ range is comprised of five new products – each with improved video quality – and an entirely new modular rear-view camera system. The ‘Series 2’ Dash Cams continue to focus on video quality. Unparalleled access to the development teams at Ambarella, the leading semi-conductor manufacturer, has allowed Nextbase to create new firmware that ensures image quality is better than ever before, irrespective of the time of day or weather conditions.
The Series 2 collection consists of five different models and three modular, plug-in cameras that can record the rear or vehicle cabin.Nextbase has also introduced MyNextbase, a new software package that includes an App (MyNextbase Connect), desktop video player (MyNextbase Player) editing suite and free cloud storage at mynextbase.com to securely store user videos.
Every product is 35% smaller than its predecessor, making the cameras as unobtrusive as possible, and each features Nextbase’s new Click&Go PROTM mounting system with neodymium magnets, ensuring hassle free use. A sophisticated Intelligent Parking Mode is also now included in every model, helping owners to keep their cars safe even when stationary.

The Nextbase 122 Dashcam is the new standard entry level Dash Cam, ideal for the younger or first time driver. It uses a brand new slick design, with a bright and clear 2-inch high resolution screen. The 122 utilises an improved F2.2 lens with recording at 720p HD to capture those all-important details. It features a higher accuracy G sensor and Intelligent Parking Mode for increased protection. This can be used to record any physical movement on the vehicle when left unattended and is designed to work using the Dash Cam’s inbuilt battery.

The 122 features a new overhauled Intelligent Parking Mode system, present in all the new series of Nextbase cams. This can be used to record any physical movement on the vehicle when left unattended and is designed to work using the Dash Cam’s inbuilt battery. It uses a new bright and clear 2″ high resolution screen. This makes menu selection and playback of footage on the cam easier than ever before.
The Nextbase 122 Dash Cam is nice and small, and very light. The magnets on the Click&Go Pro Mount are very strong, but you can easily secure and remove the camera from the mount with just one hand. The interface is simple with three large buttons either side of the screen. If you’re never had a dash cam before, I feel like the Nextbase 122 Dash Cam is ideal. It’s simple, easy to use and functional. The quality of the footage recorded on the device is much clearer than I thought it would be, and you can easily see details like number plates thanks to the high-definition recording.
If you’re looking for a more fancier, more technical model, there are four other models within the Nextbase Series 2 collection but at £49.99, the Nextbase 122 Dash Cam is such a great gadget which gives you peace of mind when travelling. Although this model is perhaps marketed at first or young drivers, I also feel like it’d be a good model for technophobe drivers that want the confidence with owning a dash cam without the complicated technology as it is so easy and user friendly.
