I still can’t believe we’re in January, and at the start of a new year and decade. I honestly can’t believe how quickly 2019 went, and I really would like time to slow down a little. In the past I’ve shared the most popular posts I’ve published during the year, and I decided I wanted to do a top ten blog posts of 2019 post. There’s a really weird secrecy thing with blogging, where people don’t like sharing successes or anything to do with money. I do get it but I do wish we were more honest, as I know I personally find it motivating and inspiring to know how successful bloggers have been. I like to include a mix of brands on my blog, from both high end and budget price points, so I think a post like this is interesting to see what is actually popular from a reader’s perspective.
I am only including proper posts within my top ten blog posts of 2019 post, so posts where I have had a physical product. My range of Advent Calendar posts were by far some of my most popular, but I only wanted to include posts which were reviews. There have been some real surprises which I never thought would make the top ten, so keep on reading to see which posts they were.
Top Ten Blog Posts of 2019
This is my first inclusion and I’m absolutely cheating. My Look Incredible posts are always some of my most popular, and they were in my top ten posts three times but I didn’t want to include them three times as it would be very beauty box heavy. The three boxes which were super popular this year were; August, January and then March. From those three months my standout month would have to be the August box as it contained such incredible products, and brands. The Becca Palette was almost the cost of the box alone, so it was a fab month.
I reviewed more than ten foundations during 2019, and they are always very popular posts for me. I think it’s because of my skintone, and fellow pale skinned beauty addicts want to discover which shades would or wouldn’t match them. This foundation really surprised me that it made my top ten blog posts of 2019 post. It also surprised me as I didn’t love it, and I am still gutted that this foundation is the replacement to the bloody brilliant but now discontinued, Wake Me Up Foundation. The Light Porcelain shade in the original formula was much lighter than the same named shade in this foundation, and it doesn’t have the best formula either.
ColourPop made my top ten twice, and they’re both lip products too. The post on the ColourPop So Juicy Plumping Gloss collection has generated me a lot of traffic, and it ranked highly on Google search which makes me really happy as I love the formula so much. It’s the loveliest, juicy gloss and I use one almost every day as I love them so much. I particularly love QT, True Lyfe and Roundabout – they’re super pretty nudes.
Revolution is another brand with more than one product within my top ten, and this one is down to Pinterest. I did a pin about how Revolution Bronzer Reloaded was a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer, and it did pretty well and Pinterest is my number one traffic source followed by Google search. I love this bronzer so much, and although this year there was a lot of disappointing products (as shown in my favourites and fails) but this one definitely wasn’t a fail and has become one of my favourite all time bronzers.
As a beauty blogger, I feel very lucky to be able to try products and collections I perhaps wouldn’t if I wasn’t a blogger and the ColourPop Lippie Pencils set is one of my favourite things I’ve ever received as a blogger. I got the full set of 40 shades in the cutest pink box, with every shade imaginable and I use them constantly. They have the perfect creamy yet longlasting formula, and they’re so affordable which is even better. I love using the Lippie Pencils with the So Juicy lipglosses, they make the perfect pair. ColourPop reviews are always super popular, alongside Revolution.
I had no idea the MUA Pro Base Primer Oils post was anywhere near my top 100 posts, never mind top 10. I blog daily at least once, so there’s a lot of posts I publish throughout the year so it’s surprised me that these primer oils were so popular. These are a range of primers in an oil format, which you apply to the skin prior to applying your foundation and they’re great for the price – especially the gold flake version.
As a massive Too Faced fan for many years, the Too Faced Pretty Mess Collection was an exciting collection to try. It was a collaboration between Too Faced and Erika Jayne; an American TV star from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality series. In addition to being a regular on TRHOBH, she’s also an actress, singer and author. The collection was beautiful, and the eyeshadow palette blew me away. This post was always going to be popular as Erika Jayne has a big fan base and following, and it was one of the most fun makeup collections that launched in 2019.
2019 saw me take part in the best collaboration of 2019 for me, where I was given the chance to work with Cult Beauty on the most epic giveaway. I was able to do a Pinterest giveaway with Cult Beauty vouchers as prizes, and in my post I shared the makeup products and tools which made my Cult Beauty edit. Some of those products have become massive favourites, and I’m so grateful I was given the opportunity in the first place.
One of the worst products I tried during 2019 was the Revolution Eye Glisten Foil and Glitter Eyeshadows, so it’s funny to me that they’d be one of my top most read posts. They were launched as a Stila dupe, but they were far from being a dupe, and they stained my eyelids really badly. They really were disappointing, and they were a product that made my favourites and fails post, as they were so bad.
The final product within my top ten blog posts of 2019 post is the second Too Faced post, and the second foundation post with their Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation. I did the post as Too Faced had extended their shade range for their foundation, and I had one of their newer pale shades. I really love the whole Too Faced Peach collection, everything is fantastic and this foundation is no different.
So they my top ten blog posts of 2019. I’d love to know which products were popular for your blog this year?
