Moving into a new home is a pretty major event and one that’s worth celebrating. If one of your friends or family has made the move, then you can do your part in welcoming them to their new home. Here are a few gifts that are especially focused on making their house really feel like a home.
The chance to experience something close by
Since they’re new to the area, your loved one isn’t going to have much of an idea of how to have fun around the place. However, you can do a little research and find local restaurants that sell gift cards. You can encourage them to get out and explore their surroundings, or you can choose one that does delivery so that they can have delicious food brought to their door.
Filling the place with memories
Most people will have the experience of feeling like the new home is a little “off” to begin with. A little alien feeling, even. One of the best ways to dispel that is to create a strong personal connection between the home and the individual. For instance, you can choose some great pictures from their past travels or experiences, and find the perfect picture mounts to create a photo wall gallery for them. Filling the space with their memories can help them forge that much-needed personal connection.
Give them the home spa experience
Aside from decorating the place with memories that help them connect to it, you can help them create new memories that change how they feel about the space, as well. Aside from attending a housewarming party, a good way to do this might be to get them a home spa kit, making it easier to give them the opportunity to take the time to really pamper themselves and soak in the new surroundings.
Some company to keep
If they’re living alone, then there are ways you can make them feel a little less lonely. We’re not talking about buying a live-in friend or even a pet, but rather getting them a nice houseplant. Low-maintenance houseplants won’t bother them too much, are really easy to keep alive and have been shown to have a whole range of mental health benefits, making them worth the price tag.
There’s nothing wrong with going practical either
All of the gifts above have something of the sentimental about them. However, if someone is moving into their first home, or they’re living alone for the first time, then you might want to prepare them for the trials ahead. One of the better ways to do that is to get something like a nice and convenient basic tool kit. They’re going to have to face those DIY demons at some stage.
Even if you don’t go with any of the ideas above, hopefully, they will serve as inspiration for a great gift idea of your own. Remember, it’s a housewarming, so try to make sure the gift is all about them feeling at home in the new property.
