SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 Review

Today’s the second part of my sunscreen series, where I’m going to share a selection of quality sun protection products over the next couple of weeks. The SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 is the next product in my series, and it’s different from the first product I shared with you, as this is specifically designed for the face.

The SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 is the most recent launch from SkinCeuticals, and is £40.50 and contains 40ml of product within a luxe looking silver metallic plastic tube.

It’s described as being a  dual-action sunscreen which simultaneously protects against UV damage, whilst also correcting the appearance of discolouration thanks to an innovative combination of broad-spectrum UV protection and brightening active ingredients.

The ingredients list is impressive, as the formula contains 1% Tranexamic Acid, 2% Niacinamide and state-of-the-art UV filters. This new sunscreen is clinically proven to improve skin clarity and brightness and reduce the appearance of discolouration.

Brightening active ingredient Tranexamic Acid is included in this formulation at 1% and works by deactivating the inflammatory mediators responsible for melanin formation. 2% Niacinamide disrupts the efficiency of melanosome transfer from melanocytes to keratinocytes, which is responsible for visible surface discolouration.

SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 Review

The SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 has one of the nicest feeling formulas I’ve ever tried for a facial sun protection product. I rarely enjoy facial SPFs as they tend to either be greasy and slimy, making them sit awfully underneath makeup, or they’re the complete opposite, where they’re dry and chalky.

This particular product feels like a lightweight moisturiser that melts into the skin amazingly well. In the swatches above, I only rubbed the product in twice and it’d fully absorbed as it’s so incredibly lightweight, which is just perfect for makeup. You don’t have to wait around whilst it dries, nor does it cause your foundation to separate either.

It’s a bold claim, but the SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 is without a doubt the best facial SPF I’ve tried, and I have tried a hell of  a lot.

I thought the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF I discovered last year couldn’t be beaten, but it definitely has been beaten by this new launch from SkinCeuticals. It works so nicely for my dry skin, but it would be perfect for oily skin as it feels as light as water on the skin.
