I am a big fan of the Charlotte Tilbury makeup range, but I haven’t ever tried any of their base products apart from their Airbrush Powder. The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer is a product I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about, so I knew I had to give it a try.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer
“This is the magic wand of makeup for perfect-looking skin! For five years, Charlotte Tilbury has been working on this holy grail of concealers that reduces the appearance of dark circles, blemishes and imperfections, for fresher-looking second skin instantly!” – Charlotte Tilbury
The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer is available in a total of twenty shades. I didn’t know if the lightest shade would work for my skintone as the swatches online weren’t all that helpful. I chose Fair 1 which Charlotte Tilbury describes as being an incredible full coverage liquid concealer in an ivory shade for very fair skin with cool undertones.
Unfortunately Fair 1 is too deep for me, and it has quite a strong warm undertone which looks so yellow on my skin. The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer comes with a flocked sponge applicator so it’s not as easy to mix with lightening drops as you have to apply the concealer directly from the sponge onto the skin. If you try and apply it to the back of your hand to then mix with lightening drops, it dries much too quickly.
The only way I’ve been able to make this shade work is to get the pipette dispenser of my Revolution Pro Lightening Drops and drop the tiniest drop onto the tip of the sponge, so I can then ‘mix’ the lightening drops with the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer on the skin. It’s less than ideal, but it’s the only way I can make it work for me as it’s way too yellow for my cool undertone.
In terms of formula, I think it works really nicely as an under eye concealer as it’s lightweight and a little sheer. It has a nice dewy finish, meaning it doesn’t look too heavy or cakey under the eyes and it doesn’t emphasise dryness which I love. I did think the coverage would be impressive from the name and claims, but it’s much sheerer than I thought it would be.
They do claim it leaves the skin looking fresher, and that I’d definitely agree with, but if you have intense dark circles, you might need something that offers heavier coverage as it is quite a sheer, lightweight concealer. I would love them to introduce more shades, as I would definitely repurchase if I could find a lighter shade than Fair 1.
