Maybelline SnapScara Mascara

When it comes to drugstore mascaras, my favourite brands are Maybelline, L’Oreal and Essence. I love a luxe mascara, but you can find really great formulas for under £10. The Maybelline SnapScara Mascara launched towards the end of 2018, and it wasn’t a mascara that instantly caught my eye as the name is a bit weird. We’re used to Maybelline using bold names like Lash Sensational, Great Lash and The Rocket, and the Maybelline SnapScara Mascara name just doesn’t sound very intriguing.

It’s obviously all about the formula, but I like a mascara to have me intrigued from the get-go. I don’t think I’ve ever read a review on the Maybelline SnapScara Mascara either, and it’s never featured in Maybelline adverts, so I’m guessing it’s not one of their big sellers in their mascara range.

The Maybelline SnapScara Mascara is £7.99 and from what I can see, is only available in black with no other shades or formulas. In the US they have four different colours, but we just have black. I got the SnapScara as part of a gift with purchase deal, and whilst it’s not a mascara I would have purchased myself, I was still interested to give it a try.

It’s not just mascara, it’s NEW Snapscara. Smooth, clump-free volume on and off in a snap. Not clumpy. Not flaky. Not tough to take off. Meet a new generation of mascara! Snapscara® is our 1st pigmented wax-free mascara that features a zero-hassle, no clump formula that glides on smooth for clean volume and defined lashes all-day.

This voluminous mascara is made without pigment-dulling waxes and the effect is super-saturated lashes with pure color intensity. Easily remove this game-changing mascara with a cotton pad and warm water – it’s never tough to take off. You will never need to rub or experience those dreaded raccoon eyes. This colored mascara is ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lens wearers.

Maybelline SnapScara Mascara

The Maybelline SnapScara Mascara has a natural bristled wand, with a slight curve in the brush. The main selling point in this particular mascara is the wax-free formula, so if that’s something you’ve been looking for, it might be great to find a wax-free mascara at an affordable price.

In terms of results, it’s an okay mascara. It adds minimal length and volume, and doesn’t layer very well. I never use just one coat with any mascara, as I have super short lashes and I need at least two coats otherwise it’s not worth bothering with. The second coat of the SnapScara becomes clumpy and dry, even if you apply it quickly after the first coat.

I’ve also experienced flaking within 1-2 hours of application every time I use it. It’s not a terrible mascara, but every single Maybelline mascara performs better than this one for me, and my lashes, and the incessant flaking is a deal breaker for me unfortunately. I think I’ll stick to my Lash Sensational and Total Temptation Maybelline mascaras for the time being…
