Every year Tarte do a crazy sale where you can get a whole makeup bag of makeup for an amazing price. I’ve snapped up the offer a couple of times in the past, but this year’s deal was just too good to turn down. For £52 you got a six full size products and a makeup bag. For the lip product choice, I decided to try the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick as the formula sounded lovely and you could choose any of the 21 shades.
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick
I can’t recall ever reading a review of the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick, but I’m all about the comfortable, balmy and glossy lip products so the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick appeared to tick all of those boxes.
“Drench your lips in luscious, longwearing pigment with this vegan lipstick!“

The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick is £20 and has super sleek packaging. With faux marble style blue casing, that looks so luxurious and unique to any other lipstick packaging I’ve seen. The packaging is a little heavier than other lipsticks, but that doesn’t bother me.
I don’t think Tarte’s swatch photos on their website are very helpful as you can’t expand them or look at them closely so you do have to kinda guess when choosing a shade. I chose the shade Pink Lemonade, which Tarte describe as being a ‘white beige’ which is the weirdest lipstick description I’ve ever seen.
What even is a ‘white beige’? This lipstick isn’t even remotely like a white beige. It’s more of a brown toned light peach, and it’s strange because in the tube it’s more pink, but it translates as more of a browny nude on the lips.
The shade doesn’t look anything like pink lemonade either so it’s a weird one. It’s perhaps a little more brown than I like, but it’s still a pretty shade. This formula is supposedly matte, but it’s not matte at all.
If I had to compare it to another lipstick formula, I’d say it was similar to the MAC Amplified Lipsticks, but it’s definitely not matte. It has a pretty sheen on the lips, but the shine does fade the longer you wear it, but it’s comfortable to wear and fades nicely without looking awful as time goes on. I don’t know if I’d pay £20 for another shade as there’s other lipstick formulas I prefer, but it’s a nice addition to my collection nonetheless.
