My holy grail blemish treatment is the Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot, which I’ve raved about many, many times on my blog.
I was beyond gutted when attempting to repurchase, and discovered it’d been discontinued. The Vichy Normaderm SOS Sulphur Anti-Spot Paste has launched as it’s replacement and I can tell you now, it’s not great.
It was amazing, and the only blemish treatment that truly worked from the first application, with zero stinging, no drying out of the skin and it healed spots extremely quickly. I don’t know why they’d get rid of it, as it was a massively popular product.
Vichy Normaderm SOS Sulphur Anti-Spot Paste
It’s so frustrating when a beauty brand discontinues a product you love, especially with no prior warning. One of the best benefits of the Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot was that it was hydrating.
Many blemish treatments are very drying and harsh on the skin, which can make the skin surrounding the blemish become dry, and flaky but that never happened with the Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot.
“The Normaderm SOS Sulphur Paste is a targeted care clinically proven to reduce the appearance of blemishes.
Enriched with 10% sulphur, niacinamide and glycolic acid, the sulphur paste reduces the appearance of pores and instantly targets the appearance of blemishes with a drying action. Hypoallergenic. Tested under dermatological control. Suitable for sensitive skin.
The Vichy Normaderm SOS Sulphur Anti-Spot Paste is £17, and contains 20ml of product within a dark green coloured plastic tube with a white plastic nozzle.
The directions are simple, you just apply directly on the breakouts at night on cleansed skin, with enough to cover the entire blemish, and Vichy recommend applying it at night.
The Vichy Normaderm SOS Sulphur Anti-Spot Paste is a thick, yellow coloured cream with a very strong sulphur scent. The sulphur scent is to be expected – it is a sulphur paste after all.
But wow it’s strong. If I apply it at night to my blemishes, you can smell sulphur in the room for hours after use, and you can smell the sulphuric scent on your skin, until you next cleanse.
In terms of treating blemishes, it’s massively disappointing. I am obviously comparing the Vichy Normaderm SOS Sulphur Anti-Spot Paste to the product it replaced – the Normaderm Hyaluspot, but I don’t find that this SOS Sulphur Paste has any effect on my blemishes.
It never dries fully, and remains tacky for the whole duration on the skin, and it just doesn’t “reduce the appearance of blemishes overnight” like it claims.
I really wish it did, because at £17, it is nearly £5 more than the original Hyaluspot, but it’s pointless for me as it doesn’t improve, reduce or heal blemishes whatsoever.
Vichy is one of my favourite skincare brands, and this is the first product I’ve ever been disappointed by, so it’s a real shame, and I’m now on the hunt for a replacement that actually works.
