Revolution launched yet another sister brand back in June called XX Revolution which is said to combine makeup with skincare. To me it sounds like something you’d see on an adult TV channel, but they’ve launched into Boots and on the Revolution website. The XX Revolution Fixx Brow Sculpt + Set Gel is the very first product I’ve tried from the brand, and I’m sharing my thoughts so keep on reading..
XX Revolution Fixx Brow Sculpt + Set Gel
XX Revolution is expensive compared to any other drugstore makeup brand. Revolution launched their Revolution Pro range to be their luxe, high-end inspired range so it’s strange that they’d then go on to launch yet another brand with even higher price tags.
I feature a lot of Revolution products over on my second blog, and I can tell you that posts on XX Revolution barely get any views as people just aren’t searching for reviews and information on the products.
So I didn’t know if I should purchase anything from the range, as it felt a little pointless and with the prices being so high for a brand that prided themselves on being for ‘everyone’ and the opposite of elitist brands, the high prices are a little hard to swallow.
Strangely enough, the XX Revolution products are almost always on sale at both Revolution and Boots, so I imagine the products aren’t selling – their foundations are £15 as an example which is crazy when you can buy some MAC foundations for only £10 more. So because their whole range was reduced, I decided to order 6 products to see how they compared to their existing products…
The XX Revolution Fixx Brow Sculpt + Set Gel is £8 and contains 4ml of product in a rectangular tube with a clear base, and an iridescent pink lid. The packaging is sleek, and the brow gel is available in only four shades; Clear, Medium Brown, Warm Brown and Dark Brown – with nothing for blondes or auburns yet again.
“Nobody got time to spend 5 minutes on their brows each morning only for them to shift by lunch. Sculpt & set with our Fixx Brow Gels for brows that last as long as you stay up.“
I ordered the XX Revolution Fixx Brow Sculpt + Set Gel in the shade Dark Brown, and it’s the perfect, perfect, perfect shade for my brows. It’s an amazing cool toned, dark brown with zero warmth. It’s so hard to find dark brown brow products that don’t lean warm, so I’m beyond happy with this shade.
The brow gel has a tapered, natural bristled wand for combing through your brows. It’s quite a stiff brush, which is a positive as you can build the colour up gradually without going from zero to caterpillar in two strokes. It dries down quite fast, and you can feel it in your brows once it’s dried but it doesn’t feel crispy or uncomfortable. It sets my brows all day until I need to remove it, and whilst it’s not as volumising or as weightless as Benefit Gimme Brow, it’s not bad for a brow gel under £10.
