If you haven’t looked after your teeth and gums, then your smile can be impacted, this can lead to people making assumptions, and a bad first impression is made. Looking after your teeth does not need to be difficult and should not be neglected; if you are in a job where you are customer-facing or talking to people every day, you do not want them to be put off by your smile or potential bad breath.

Visit your dentist
The first thing you are going to need to do is to visit your dentist; you need to know what may already be wrong with your teeth and gums, so you can rectify it and get it fixed. Just going in for a check-up will allow them to see what is wrong and offer you advice on what you can do to remedy it; they will also be able to carry the work out for you, should you need any work done. You can get cosmetic bonding done to repair cracks and chips, or you can get fillings replaced and put in, etc. There is a lot that can be done by your dentist; they can even just give you a scale and polish should you not need work done.

If you are unsure how to do this, then ask your hygienist, and they can give you tips on the best way to brush your teeth and make sure you are doing it in the best way to get results.
Brush and floss your teeth
The main thing you can do for yourself is to make sure you are brushing your teeth and flossing at home. This is the best way to make sure your teeth stay healthy and your gums are looked after; it is no good going to the dentist and having work done to just go back to neglecting your mouth, so you need to make sure you are doing your bit to help keep everything healthy. You need to try and brush at least twice a day and floss at these times to; if you floss between the teeth, this will get out any food left after brushing and make sure you don’t get decay in between your teeth and plaque build-up.
