If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know how much I love Huda Beauty as a brand, and I always have to try their new launches. The Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer launched back in October alongside the Faux Filter Skin Finish Foundation Stick and the Build and Buff Foundation Brush, all of which I’ve had the pleasure of trialling over the last few weeks.
Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer
When the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer launched, Huda mentioned that the primer was originally designed to be a skincare essence for Wishful Skin (Huda’s skincare brand), but the Huda Beauty team realised how amazing it was as a primer, so they made it one.
“Water Jelly is an ultra-hydrating primer that smooths and quenches skin with a surge of moisture to create the perfect canvas that’s ready to grip makeup in place for long-lasting, flawless wear.
This moisture-packed primer will keep your skin balanced all day long while the activated makeup grip creates the perfect texture for makeup. The unique jelly texture melts into the skin for instant hydration, providing a super smooth, makeup-ready canvas in less than 60-seconds!”
The Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer is £29 / $33, and comes in a clear rectangular plastic tube, with a white lid and pump dispenser. It’s recommended to apply one pump of the primer to bare skin, and allowing 30-60 seconds for the hydrating ingredients to absorb into your skin while the activating priming ingredients provide optimal makeup grip.
I really like how watery and viscous the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer feels. It spreads easily over the skin, and it very much does feel more akin to a skincare product, than a makeup primer. Once you’ve applied it to the skin, it feels a little sticky, which is why it lends itself so well as a makeup primer, as it helps your makeup adhere to your skin.
It’s very hydrating on the skin, and creates a lovely dewy and luminous effect on the skin. Although it does feel a little tacky once first applied, the tackiness disappears completely once I’ve applied my foundation. I love how smooth it leaves my skin, and how it works almost like a skincare / makeup hybrid, and I can tell you now, it is the perfect primer for the #FauxFilter Foundation Stick, and my review of the foundation is coming very soon!
