Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick Review / Swatches

Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick

I really love Huda Beauty as a brand, and I’m excited whenever they launch a brand new product. The Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick launched back in October, as a stick version of their popular #FauxFilter Full Coverage Liquid Foundation. I never gave the liquid version of the foundation a try as I’d read it wasn’t great for dry skin, so when Huda announced she’d made a stick version, I couldn’t wait to try it.

I’ve been testing the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Sticks for a number of weeks now, and only last week, Huda Kattan announced that she had reformulated the #FauxFilter Full Coverage Foundation. The brand new reformulated foundation is launching today on the Huda Beauty website, which is very exciting. It’s now fragrance free, non-comedogenic and features a luminous matte finish, which sounds amazing.

The Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick is available in a total of 39 different shades, is £27 and contains 12.5g of product. The packaging on this foundation stick is beautiful, with black casing that features an ombre fade to clear on the lid.

I really like that the top of the lids are clear, so you can see which shade is which should you own multiple shades, without having to open the lids, or check the shade names on the base of the sticks. The twist up mechanism is great too, as you can control how much or as little product you want to wind up to reduce the risk of the stick breaking like other stick foundations.

The luxuriously creamy stick formula melts into the skin for a natural filtered finish that lasts up to 10 hours. Whether you prefer full coverage or barely any at all, this versatile formula will let you be the master of your complexion.

Swipe it on and build it up, the stick formula is ideal if you’re on-the-go or in a hurry, and thanks to its long-wearing, waterproof, humidity and sweat resistant formula, you can set it and forget it for the rest of the day.

I love that more brands are launching stick foundations, as I really like them in general. I think people assume stick foundations are going to be drying or cakey on the skin like the old Max Factor Pan Stick foundation. However, if you use a nice emollient primer underneath, it really helps the stick foundation to glide over the skin.

I have three shades of the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick, and they’re the three lightest shades available in the range. I’ve taken two different photos of the swatches, as I wanted to show you the shades swatched straight from the stick, and then blended to give you an idea of coverage, colour and finish.

The three shades of the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick that I own are;

  • Milkshake 100B – Ultra fair skin with a beige undertone
  • Angel Food 110N – Ultra fair skin with a neutral undertone
  • Vanilla 120B – Fair skin with pinky-beige undertones

From the three shades I own, Milkshake 100B is the best match, and it’s the shade I own in their Concealer too. I like that the shade range includes different skintones, and decent shade descriptions to help you decipher which shade would work for you.

I really love how creamy and smooth the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick is. It literally glides over the skin, with no tugging or drying like say the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Stick Foundation. I just swipe the stick directly onto the skin, ‘drawing’ a line on each cheek, my forehead, chin and nose then blend with either a BeautyBlender or the amazing Huda Beauty Build and Buff Foundation Brush, which launched alongside the foundation (review coming soon).

At the same time the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick launched, Huda also launched the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer which I reviewed in full right here. That primer was originally created to be a skincare essence for their Wishful skincare brand, but they discovered how amazingly it worked as a primer, and it’s truly a match made in heaven for this foundation stick.

It’s such a creamy foundation, and it doesn’t cling to or emphasise dry patches, especially when used with the Water Jelly Hydrating Primer. When a foundation claims to offer sheer to full coverage, I tend to eye roll as you rarely get a formula that can do both, but with the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick, you really can be versatile with the coverage.

It works well as a concealer too, and it lasts for a good six hours before I need to touch-up. It’s such a great foundation, and it also works really well with the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Powder, to help set it in place without ever looking dry or cakey. If you’ve never tried a stick foundation, or you’ve not enjoyed using a stick foundation formula in the past, you have to give the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick a try. It offers great coverage, it’s creamy, smooth, easy to apply, longwearing and looks great on the skin, whilst ticking all of the boxes!
