Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation Review / Swatches

After falling in love with the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation Stick, I couldn’t wait to try the new Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation which launched back in January. Stick Foundations can either be great or awful, and many feel stiff and clay-like when trying to blend it into the skin. However, the Huda Beauty Stick Foundation is the complete opposite, and you have to try it if you’ve been put off by other foundation sticks, as it’s unlike any other foundation stick I’ve tried.

The Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation isn’t a brand new product to the Huda Beauty product range. It’s an exciting reformulated and revamped version of the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation which launched back in 2017. It’s a super popular foundation, but Huda listened to lots and lots of feedback from her followers on requests they made regarding the formula.

#FauxFilter is backwith the same full coverage and long-lasting properties, you know and love from the OG formula, but with 24-hour flexible wear, a luminous matte finish AND… it’s fragrance-free!

The true filter effect gives instant coverage so seamless that it immediately unifies skin tone and texture as it blurs skin to give a radiant finish.

The non-cakey formula is life proof (waterproof, super long wear (24hr), transfer proof, fade proof, sweat proof, humidity proof.) No matter what the weather, occasion or situation, #FauxFilter Luminous Matte will NEVER let you down.

The newly reformulated Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation is available in a great range of 39 shades, which have been sorted into brand new shade range categories. So, Huda recommends checking the new shade categories prior to purchase, to check your shade hasn’t changed, as the shade range has been expanded from the original line-up.

Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation is completely fragrance free, which was one of the biggest criticisms about the original formula. People with sensitive skin found the fragrance to be irritating, so this new version is free from fragrance, as well as being non-comedogenic which will please those that have acne prone, or sensitive skin.

It also claims to have a non-drying formula, it’s waterproof, sweat proof, mask proof and offers up to 24 hours of wear time. The original version of the foundation gave a flawless matte finish, and the new Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation has been upgraded to offer a luminous matte flattering finish, making it suitable for more skin types.

I have the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation in the very lightest shade available within the shade range, which is Milkshake 100B. Huda describes this shade as being an ultra fair skin with neutral undertones (how to find out what your skin’s undertone is?), which I thought would suit me perfectly, and it’s a really great match.

I cannot believe how pigmented, and much coverage the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation offers. These swatches were done with the smallest pump of product you can possibly imagine, and it goes for miles.

Due to how pigmented it is, you don’t need to use very much at all, but you still have the control on whether you want full coverage depending on your application method. If you use a brush like the Huda Beauty Build and Buff Foundation Brush, you can achieve full, full coverage. However, a dampened beauty sponge will help you achieve a sheerer finish.

This foundation layers beautifully over the top of the Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Primer, which does an amazing job at hydrating the skin, and helps fuller coverage foundations to mesh with the skin better. Even though the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation is full coverage, it doesn’t look cakey or mask-like on the skin.

I genuinely don’t know it does manage to look so natural, as it covers acne, hyper pigmentation, rosacea and freckles. The faux filter themed name is such an apt name, as it does somehow leave the skin looking like it’s been filtered, as it’s left looking smooth, even and perfected.

When I use the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation, I don’t need a concealer, and I can’t honestly name a foundation where that’s the case. It is amazing, and delivers on its claims of being mask-proof too, so you don’t have to worry about your foundation covering your face mask which is definitely a massive selling point in itself, but I am so impressed.
