Fragrance is always an amazing gift idea, regardless of the occasion, gender or brand. Everyone loves to smell good, and it always feels like such a treat to receive a new fragrance, and I have two stunning Valentine’s Day gift suggestions from The Perfume Shop.
Whilst we might not be able to peruse the high street like we once did, thankfully stores like The Perfume Shop have a very user-friendly website, allowing you to purchase fragrances in the comfort of your own home, and you never have to worry about the authenticity or quality, as The Perfume Shop are such a well known, popular retailer.
For Valentine’s Day, I think couples fragrances are a really lovely idea, and brands have really promoted the whole ‘his’ and ‘hers’ complementary fragrance concept a lot in the last couple of years. Obviously you can both wear whatever you wish, but some fragrance brands have a version of one fragrance in both a format for women and for men, and when worn together, they complement each other and work harmoniously together.
One of my personal favourite fragrances with a version of women and men is Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb and Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, which are both available from The Perfume Shop. They both smell divine, and are fragrances both myself and my other half constantly repurchase as we love them so much.
For Valentine’s Day this year, I wanted to try something a little different, and one brand which screams luxury and decadence is Valentino. Valentino has some iconic fragrances, and only just launched the brand new Valentino Born In Roma Yellow Dream in the last couple of weeks. You can get both the homme/femme version of the Born in Roma Yellow Dream via The Perfume Shop’s website, should you want a brand new and exclusive fragrance suggestion.
Valentino Valentine’s Day Fragrances from The Perfume Shop
This particular fragrance duo are iconic as they both feature the iconic Valentino raised studs, a fashion signature of Valentino Couture inspired by Roman architecture and representing a rebellious new era for high fashion. I might not have the budget for a pair of Valentino Rockstud Pumps, but you can still have a piece of Valentino’s luxury in your home with their incredible fragrances.
Both of these fragrances look absolutely stunning together. They both feature a raised, studded glass design with Donna having clear glass, and Uoma having a grey to black ombre design. They also both feature a faux leather Valentino name plaque on the front of each bottle, with Valentino in pink.
I love that the bottles both have a grenade-like design, with the ‘pin’ of the grenade needing to be removed in order to spritz the bottles. They look extremely luxurious, with great attention to detail such as the rubberised ‘Rockstud’ collars on both of the bottles, with a matte finish that contrasts against the glossy glass bottles beautifully.
- Top notes: Bergamot Essence, Blackcurrant Accord
- Heart notes: Sambac Jasmine Absolute, Jasmine Grandiflorum, Jasmine Tea
- Base notes: Bourbon Vanilla, Cashmeran, Guaiacwood
Described as being a modern haute couture floriental, which is said to made from three jasmine flowers and accords, which are then blended with deliciously warm vanilla bourbon. This is then twisted with a cool facet made from pink pepper, and a woody overdose, which gives the couture feminine fragrance a modern edge.
It’s a very warm and sweet floral, which smells as if it’s a grown up, sexier version of Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir. If you like fruity, sweet fragrances, you have to try Valentino Born in Roma Donna Eau de Parfum. It’s a beautiful, statement scent which lasts for at least five hours on the skin, and it’s such a perfect gift idea for Valentine’s Day.
- Top notes: Violet Leaves Absolute, Ginger Essence, Citron Essence.
- Heart notes: Clary Sage Essence, Peppermint Accord, Mineral Salt Accord.
- Base notes: Vetiver Essence, Guaiacwood Essence, Leather.
The Born in Roma Uoma Eau de Toilette is described as being a modern, aromatic vetiver fragrance. The signature Valentino couture scent is based around the aromatic sage and smoked vetiver notes, which is then said to shaken up with the unmistakable edge of mineral salt and spicy ginger.
This fragrance is without a doubt the sexiest male fragrance I’ve ever smelt. V&R Spicebomb has always been my favourite male fragrance, but Born in Roma Uoma Eau de Toilette is now my number one favourite. It actually reminds me of Armani Code for Men, but a warmer and spicier version. The sillage on this scent is impressive, and it lasts for at least six hours, and even longer on fabrics.
Both fragrances work beautifully together, and not only do they look amazing together with their studded bottle designs. They also complement each other really well when both of them are worn, and I just can’t over how amazing they smell.
You can find both Valentino Born in Roma Uoma and Donna at The Perfume Shop right here.
