Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate

Bioderma is one of my favourite skincare brands, and I’m intrigued whenever they launch something new, so when the Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate launched, I had to try it.

I ordered it without reading any reviews beforehand, which is something I very rarely do when it comes to skincare, but I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

The unique Sébium Night Peel is one of the newest developments in the Bioderma Laboratories, made up of three active ingredients; 15% Glycolic Acid, D-Panthenol and FluidactiveTM Patent.

With its 15% Glycolic Acid, one of the highest on the market, this treatment has a keratolytic effect on the skin allowing it to reduce scars, lesions, treat blemishes & improve the skin’s radiance.

The D-Panthenol is extremely soothing & repairs the skin’s barrier while the FluidactivTM patent maintains the quality of the sebum & prevents squalene from oxidation.

When I bought the Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate, I knew there was a chance it wouldn’t work for my skin, as the tube clearly says it’s for combination/oily skin, and my skin is very dry.

Whilst it’s dry and dehydrated, I still get the odd hormonal breakout, and my skin seems to respond well to acid-based skincare products, so I was intrigued to see if this ‘night peel’ would work for my skin.

Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate

The Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate is marketed as having two uses;

  • as a complementary care to aesthetic procedures: before & after to prolong the dermatological peeling efficacy.
  • as a gentle peel at home: every night for one month, four times a year.

I’ve not seen a mainstream skincare brand create something like this product, where it can be used after having a professional peel treatment, which I thought was interesting. Plus the idea of using it every night for a whole month, and doing so four months out of the year.

I’ve found the Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate to be clear, with a runny serum-like consistency. It goes a long way as you massage it into the skin, and I only need two full pumps to cover my face and neck in an even layer of the product.

My skin heals very slowly, and I’d had the remnants of a blemish last for around two weeks on my skin, and no blemish treatments would make a difference or help with healing.

So when the Bioderma Sebium Night Peel Smoothing Concentrate arrived through the post, I decided to try it as a targeted treatment on the blemish and I kinda forgot about it.

It was only when I was cleansing my face in the evening I noticed how much the raised, red blemish had reduced both in size, and colour. I couldn’t believe it, and using it for two more days completely healed the blemish when no other product could.

Not only does it work wonders on blemishes and breakouts, it works well on uneven texture, dry patches and has made my skin so smooth. It’s one of the most impressive serums I’ve tried in a long time, and even though it is very potent, I haven’t experienced any sensitivity issues whatsoever. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try!
