How To Care For Dry Hands
Dry hands can happen for numerous reasons, and usually there is some underlying medical condition. Dry hands can be caused by exposure to cold temperatures, the use of certain hand lotions, or it could be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. For example, if you have diabetes then you might experience dry skin as a symptom.
Some people with dry skin try to combat the issue by using hand creams on a daily basis, which often leads to people overusing these products and causing them to build up on our skin which leads to even drier skin. So its important not to overuse your hand cream or lotion and wash your hands often so that they don’t become too dry in the first place!

If you are experiencing dry hands, it is important to find out why you are struggling with this issue. It may be as simple as using the wrong type of soap or washing routine (most commonly known as the “harsh scrub”). Prevention of Dry Hands
- Use oils or lotion on your hands every day
- Always wear gloves when outdoors
- Keep your nails trimmed and smooth
- Carry moisturizer with you so you can apply during the day if needed
- Exfoliate with a loofah or scrub at least twice a week
- Apply lotion regularly (every 2 hours preferably)
In order to prevent dryness, it is crucial to maintain a regular wash routine. It is recommended to use lukewarm water when washing hands and apply gentle, moisturizing soap. You should also pat your hands dry instead of rubbing them vigorously so that you don’t cause inflammation or irritation.
