The ELF x Tove Lo Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm launched as part of the Electric Mood Collection, which ELF launched in collaboration with three celebrities. Each of the three celebrities had their own capsule collection, and the celebrities are Tove Lo, Pitizion and also Tiana.
I have to admit, I don’t follow any of them, but I chose to purchase the ELF x Tove Lo Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm, as well as the ELF x Pitizion Shadow Crayon Duo, but I wasn’t interested in any of the other products within the collection.
ELF x Tove Lo Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm
“All the benefits of a hydrating lip balm with some stage-ready shimmer. For a pout that’s sweet and sultry like Tove Lo’s, the shade Sweet Talk imparts lips with a natural, peachy coral hue and subtle iridescence that’s flattering on all skin tones.
Pucker up to the moisturizing formula, which is enriched with Vitamin E and Jojobo Oil to leave your lips feeling soft and nourished.“
The ELF x Tove Lo Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm is £10, which I think is pretty expensive for ELF. They already have a range of hydrating core lip balms, and those are £6, so I think it’s pretty poor to up the price by £4 just because it’s part of a collaboration. The packaging and format is exactly the same, except it’s silver on this balm, and the others are colour co-ordinated to match the shade of lipstick inside.
Key Benefits
- Gives lips a natural hint of coral colour
- Sheer finish with subtle shimmer
- Hydrating formula infused with Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil
- Universally flattering shade (Sweet Talk) Refreshing coconut scent and flavour
The ELF x Tove Lo Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm has a heart shaped ‘core’ and is described as being a coral shade, but it doesn’t actually impart noticeable colour to the lips. I have very pale lips, so it doesn’t take much for lip products to show up on me, but it’s very much a clear lip balm.
This balm has a coconut scent and taste which is nice, but what surprised me the most is how majorly glittery the balm is. Before using the balm, there’s no glitter in the bullet, yet when you swipe it on the lips, your lips are then covered in chunky glitter – as shown in the image below. Lots of chunky glitter….
Not only that, once the balm has worn away (in less than an hour), the glitter stays on the lips for hours, and hours. Nothing removes it! So you need to love glitter, if you get this balm, as it’s super glittery, and the glitter moves around my face.
I’m just not a fan, unfortunately, and it’s not even very nourishing. So for £10 it’s a big disappointment, and you’d be better off with a £5 Burt’s Bees lip balm which actually does nourish the lips.
