Bridal showers have become very popular in the UK in the last few years. It used to be all about the hen do, but most brides will have a hen do with a more party vibe, and then a more refined bridal shower with the groom and bride’s family together.
What Is A Bridal Shower?
If you’ve never come across the term bridal shower before, it’s essentially a party which is held in the bride’s honour, before she gets married. It typically includes a variety of games, activities, fun and also food for friends and family members to enjoy. There are many different things you can do at a bridal shower, with bridal shower games such as wedding themed bingo, treasure hunts, cake cutting, and more, and it’s a great way for both sides of the family to bond.
Traditionally, the bridal shower is held for the bride, by her female friends and family members, and the guests typically gift items to the bride which she can use on her wedding day, or use as a couple when they’re newly-weds.
What Are The Best Bridal Shower Gifts?
Finding the perfect present can be quite challenging, especially if you don’t know the bride very well yet. While some prefer to go with a more traditional gift like flowers, you could also look for something a little more unique. Champagne glasses are a popular gift, especially if they’ve been personalised for the couple, and obviously, a bottle of champagne is always going to be appreciated too.
Something a little different, is a little like Secret Santa, but you can have a bridal party gift exchange where all the guests from the shower will have their names put into a hat, and they’ll be paired up with another guest from the party, but like Secret Santa, you won’t know who’s your gift giver. This is a fun way for everyone to get acquainted, and it means everyone will get a gift at the bridal shower.
Practical gifts to use after the wedding are often a safe bet, with things for the home, kitchen or even their honeymoon. Sometimes at a bridal shower, there will be a collection of money instead of individual gifts, so the money can be pooled together to gift to the bride in the form of vouchers, or as money towards the honeymoon, but ultimately, there’s many amazing bridal shower gift ideas to choose from.
