My favourite tinted brow gel is the Benefit Gimme Brow, but I’m always on the hunt for a drugstore tinted brow gel alternative. The best drugstore tinted brow I’ve ever tried is the Essence Make Me Brow, but it’s always a nightmare to track down, so I was intrigued to give the ELF Wow Brow Tinted Brow Gel a try.
ELF Wow Brow Tinted Brow Gel
“Natural eyebrows that wow! This buildable wax-gel hybrid is enriched with Kaolin Clay and hair-like fibers that adhere to and enhance your brows. Brush and shape the tinted gel into place and your brows will immediately appear voluminous, fuller, and naturally filled in. Can be used on its own or as a topcoat over brow powder or pencil.“
The ELF Wow Brow Tinted Brow Gel is £6, and is available in five different shades. The tube contains 3.5g / 0.12oz of product within a matte black tube, and has a natural bristled wand, with a small taper.
I chose the ELF Wow Brow Tinted Brow Gel in the shade Neutral Brown, and it’s a deep brown which leans very cool toned, rather than being neutral, but it couldn’t be a more perfect brow gel shade for me.
The formula is a little strange, in that it’s a little watery and thin. I’ve never tried a brow gel which borders on being too wet, rather than too dry.
It feels very wet when you apply it, and because it is wetter, it does take longer to try down compared to an average brow gel, but the longer drying time is worth it, as it does last all day once it has set.
The ELF Wow Brow Tinted Brow Gel feels lightweight in the brows, without ever leaving my brow hairs feeling crispy or sticky. You can feel it in the brows when your face moves with facial expressions, but not overwhelmingly so.
As much as I like the formula, and it’s nice and affordable, it doesn’t add texture and volume like Benefit Gimme Brow, so it’s definitely not a dupe, but for a tinted brow gel, it’s not bad at all.
