Why You Need Ohuhu Alcohol Markers In Your Life

Adult coloring and alcohol markers have taken the world by storm in the last year. I bought my first set of Ohuhu Alcohol Markers just over a year ago, and I was instantly hooked.

I’ve tried many brands of alcohol marker, from Decotime, Caliart, Copic and Arrtx, and for me, the best brand is Ohuhu, closely followed by Arrtx. Here is a run-down on why you need to finally try Ohuhu markers, and why they are genuinely worth the hype.

Why You Need Ohuhu Alcohol Markers In Your Life

What Makes Ohuhu Alcohol Markers Stand Out

Ohuhu alcohol markers give you smooth ink flow, even color laydown and effortless blending. They’re perfect for beginners and experienced artists, and the color never fades from the paper over time.

There is an insane range of colors, and range of marker types, from small packs to huge 320 marker sets. If you’re new to alcohol markers and/or Ohuhu, I’d always recommend starting with a small starter pack, so you can try the pens out for yourself, to see how you get on with the different nibs.

When you purchase any of the bigger sets, they usually contain a colorless blender pen, which helps to soften edges and create smooth transitions when blending. Plus, the larger sets usually contain swatch cards, so you can test the shades on paper, to see what the colors are like wet and dry.

With Ohuhu alcohol markers, you get different nibs:

  • Brush nib for flexible strokes and detailed work
  • Chisel nib or soft chisel tip for broad fills and straight edges

The dual-tip design means you can switch from doing fine lines, to coloring larger areas, without having to change pen.

Ohuhu ink layers so well, so you can build shadows and gradients without making heavy streaks.

Smooth & Seamless Blending And Vibrant Color Payoff

The reason Ohuhu pens give you such smooth and seamless blends, is because of the alcohol-based ink. The ink dries quickly and it spreads evenly on the page, when you put your nib down onto the paper, helping you to layer colors without harsh lines.

You can place one color next to another, and they mix with little effort, so you can do soft gradients.

The brush tips bends as you move your hand, so you can create thin lines with light pressure, or thicker strokes with more pressure. The chisel tip lets you cover large areas fast, and lays down solid color.

Dual Tips For Greater Control And Flexibility

With Ohuhu Alcohol Markers, you’re essentially getting two tips in one marker, so you can swap between them, saving you time and keeping your coloring consistent.

Ohuhu sets give you the following dual-tip options; brush and chisel, brush and fine and fine and chisel.

Brush tips bend when you press, and are best for shading, lettering and smooth color blends.

Chisel tips cover large areas fast, giving you clean and straight edges. You can also turn the pen on its side, for wider strokes, or use the edge for sharper lines.

Use the fine tip for detail, like outlines, small patterns or tight spaces.

I started my Ohuhu collection with the Honolulu Brush + Chisel pens, and I quickly realised that the “chisel” nib wasn’t for me. I know some people love the chisel, but I find the chisel difficult to use, and I bought the Honolulu Brush + Fine, and now I will never change as they’re now my favorite nib duo.

Ink Color Doesn’t Fade On Paper Over Time

Ohuhu alcohol markers use dye-based ink mixed with alcohol and resin, helping color to bond well with paper fibers.

Alcohol markers from most brands are not labeled as archival or fully lightfast, meaning heavy UV exposure can cause fading over time. I never get any fading with Ohuhu pens, even a year later, the colors look as bold and vibrant as the day I did the coloring.

Ohuhu ink always lays down evenly and dries fast, so you don’t get smearing. You get consistent saturation, with the ink formula blending smoothly, preventing patch areas.
